Earlier today, the President of Malta laid ceremonial wreaths at the 7tyh June Monument at Saint George’s Square in Valletta. Parliament’s commemorative session took place yesterday, although the Opposition Leader did not attend.
The Speaker of the House Anġlu Farrugia also visited the Addolotara Cemetery to pay respect to the victims who were shot dead by the British troops during the riots in Valletta.
The 7th June Riots that took place in 1919 marked the first mass and public show of discontent against British rule and preceded the Self-Government Constitution of 1921.
