Later today, Bank of Valletta is set to hold its Annual General Meeting.
Robert Suban, a director at Malita Investments and the chairperson of the bank’s risk committee, is set to be reappointed to the bank’s board.
He is being nominated despite the entrenched conflict of interest he has due to the fact that Malita Investments is a client of BOV, which was also involved in a corruption scandal with former Social Housing Minister Roderick Galdes.
BOV is performing exceptionally-well but it remains heavily controlled by the party-in-government convoluting its work with conflict of interests and politically-charged decisions. The bank also hosts a series of high-risk political clients who have been investigated for corruption.
The salary of the Executive Chairman Gordon Cordina has doubled up to €450,000 since taking office.
