Trump vows to retaliate after Iran shoots down US helicopter: Brent Crude at $91.5

The war against Iran is ramping up again after President Donald Trump said that the US will retaliate against Iran’s downing of a US Apache helicopter. The helicopter was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz and fell on the Oman side. The US pilots were rescued.

Israel launched a spate of airstrikes against Iran during the weekend after Iran fired around a dozen ballistic missiles at northern Israel in retaliation for Israel’s attacks in Lebanon.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists that the Iranian regime will collapse and that Israel will help the Iranian people oust the regime. On the other hand, US President Trump is prioritising a deal with Iran over the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which so far remains closed.

Oil did not make a significant reaction to President Trump’s announcement, and Brent crude was at around $91.5 at the time of writing.
