President Trump announces deal with Iran: claims Strait of Hormuz is open but Iranian regime remains muted

President Donald Trump is claiming that a deal with the Iranian regime has been reached, but an official statement from Iran is yet to be published. Iranian state-media are quoting the Pakistani mediators saying that a signing will be held in Switzerland next Friday.

President Trump also announced that the US and Iranian naval blockades have both been lifted and encouraged oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Foreign Affaires Minister Abbas previously stated that a deal with the US is also imminent.

Oil (WTI) is below $80 for the first time since the war in Iran started in March except for very brief periods.
