Two men are in critical condition following a serious collision between a bus and a freezer van near Mount St Joseph in Mosta this afternoon.
The crash occurred near the junction of Triq iลผ-ลปejfa and Triq il-Missjunarji Maltin. After the initial impact, the bus struck three other vehicles before coming to a stop against a wall.
The freezer van driver was taken to hospital immediately, while the 49-year-old bus driver from Luqa was rescued from his seat by Civil Protection Department personnel before being transported for treatment.
Five bus passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital for assessment. Both drivers remain in critical condition.
Police, emergency responders, and Civil Protection Department personnel attended the scene. An inquiry has been launched by Magistrate Monica Borg Galea, while investigations continue and motorists are advised to avoid the area due to traffic disruptions.
Several ambulances and police vehicles are on site whilst investigations persist.

The road remains closed with heavy traffic in the surrounding areas.
