A Spanish government official from the autonomous region of Galicia, has declared that the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, has spent two years working to bring the Chinese State-owned EV-company, SAIC, to open a factory in Spain. Pedro Blanco Lobeiras, the Spanish government representative to the Galicia Regional Government gave the comments to El Correo Gallego.
The comments were made in the context of a political row in Galicia about who is to take credit for the project after the regional President of Galicia, Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela, embarked on a major political campaign to promote the project and take credit for it. Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela is a member of the Partido Popular whose members have often been critics of the Spanish Prime Minister’s ties with China.
Last week, at a European Council meeting, the Spanish Prime Minister made a very outlandish statement, saying that Europe should consider becoming an ally of China. Prime Minister Sánchez has been fostering close ties with China on ideological and political grounds, finding affinity between his socialist ideology and the Communist Party of China.
Meanwhile, the European Union is working on new legislation to curb China’s domineering market practices, which are threatening Europe’s industries.
