The Malta Handball Association (MHA) has officially welcomed its newly elected Committee, which will lead the governing body for the coming term following its election during the Extraordinary General Meeting held on 29 May 2026.
Heading the new administration is Vladimiro Comodini, who assumes the role of President. Bringing extensive experience in governance, strategic development, and organisational leadership, Comodini aims to guide Maltese handball into a new phase focused on strengthening the sport at every level.
Supporting the President are Kenneth Hili, who has been appointed Vice-President, and Mario Mercieca, who will serve as General Secretary. Both are well-established figures within the local handball community and are expected to play a key role in delivering the Association’s strategic objectives.
The Committee is further reinforced by the co-option of Orlando Bonnici, Ishmael Barbara, and Charlotte Gregory, whose expertise in sports administration, organisational management, and business leadership will contribute to the continued development of the Association.
The newly elected Committee has outlined a clear vision centred on the sustainable growth of handball in Malta. Its priorities include expanding grassroots participation, strengthening youth development programmes, supporting clubs, enhancing coaching and officiating standards, and further improving governance and administration across the sport.
Speaking after taking office, President Vladimiro Comodini thanked the outgoing administration for its contribution to Maltese handball and highlighted the importance of collaboration in achieving future success.
“I am honoured to assume the role of President of the Malta Handball Association and to serve a sport that has such a proud history and passionate community. Our focus will be on working closely with clubs, athletes, coaches, officials, sponsors, SportMalta, the Malta Olympic Committee, and all our stakeholders to strengthen the handball community and create new opportunities for growth. Together, we will strive to raise participation, improve standards, and ensure that handball continues to flourish and inspire future generations.”
The Malta Handball Association said it is looking forward to this new chapter, reaffirming its commitment to promoting excellence, inclusivity, and sporting values while continuing to build a stronger future for handball in Malta.
