Weekend oil jumps $3 as the US renews airstrikes in the Persian Gulf

US forces in the Persian Gulf have renewed their attacks on Iranian military targets after Iran hit a civilian cargo vessel with a Cypriot flag called the GFS Galaxy (IMO: 9401271). One of the crew members of the struck vessel is reportedly missing.

The news comes despite press reports stating that the Iranian government still wants to uphold its ceasefire deal with the US. New press reports are now reporting that the Iranian regime is now stating that Strait of Hormuz will remain closed. Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei told official Iranian state media that he will avenge the death of his father and those who were killed during the war.

Oil jumped to $3 going above $73 upon the news.
