Malta’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Chris Fearne, met Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa ahead of the Palestine Donor Meeting, which is being held in Brussels today. The Foreign Affairs Minister also attended the morning session of the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels.
The Palestine Donor Group brings together European, Arab and other international partners to coordinate financial assistance for the Palestinian Authority and support early recovery and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
The second meeting of the Palestine Donor Group is focusing on the Palestinian Authority’s reform agenda, its deteriorating economic situation and the mobilisation of additional international financial support through initiatives such as the EU’s PEGASE mechanism and the newly launched “Team Gaza Initiative.”
The European Union remains the largest international donor to the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Authority, having committed a three-year €1.6 billion support package linked to governance and institutional reforms.
