Energy Minister responds to questions about blackouts: “This is the government that has invested the most in the electricity distribution system”

Energy Minister Miriam Dalli has given her first comments to the press following a series of electricity blackouts on the islands. She gave her comments only after she was doorstopped before entering parliament.

She had nothing to say on why the electricity blackouts are occuring. She said that Enemalta has provided temporary supply to those who were affected until works in the affected parts of the system were completed. She also said that works on the upgrading of the distribution system are continuing and that this Labour government is “the government that has invested the most in the electricity distribution system”.

She gave no technical explanation as to why the system is failing again and instead highlighted the record temperatures in Malta, which reached 43 degrees Celsius last week.
