Maltese flagged-tanker struck in Oman: crew members rescued

The Transport Ministry has announced that 23 crew members of the Maltese-flagged tanker, Kavomaleas (IMO: 1042823), were rescued by Oman after the vessel was struck as it was navigating near the coast of Oman yesterday on July 20th.

The vessel tried to enter the Strait of Hormuz and was struck by the IRGC who claimed responsibility for the attack. The IRGC said that the ship tried to navigate through the “unsanctioned” southern route, which has been facilitated by the US Navy.

War in the Persian Gulf has resumed, mainly over control over the Strait of Hormuz.
