US strikes on Iran continued over the weekend, targeting military and naval facilities around the Strait of Hormuz in an effort to secure commercial shipping.
A US strike also hit the under-construction Darkhovin nuclear power plant in Khuzestan Province in a sign of escalation in the renewed conflict. The International Atomic Energy Agency said that the facility contained no nuclear material when it was last inspected.
Two US service members were killed and another was reported missing following an Iranian attack on a US military base in Jordan on Friday. Iran also struck targets in Kuwait and Bahrain over the weekend.
