Yesterday’s funeral in Washington of US Senator Lindsey Graham was marked with several notable events including a meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Us President Donald Trump at the White House. Their meeting took place as Iran launched new ballistic missile attacks against US forces in the region including in Jordan.
The US and Saudi Arabia have jointly engaged in attacks against IRGC targets in the region according to CENCTOM as they strive to restrain Iran and the Houthis from further disrupting shipping and conducting attacks.
A bipartisan group of US Senators also advanced a sanctions bill originally presented by Senator Graham. The revised measure targets Russia’s energy revenues and sanctions evasion, while authorising tariffs of up to 100% on countries that continue to purchase large quantities of Russian energy. It also includes sanctions related to Iran.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was also present for the funeral who met with the US President at the White House and made the case for urgent anti-air defence missiles which Ukraine purchases through NATO countries. The Ukrainian President also exchanged words with the Israeli premier before the funeral. Ukraine has recently struck an Iranian cargo ship carrying weapons to Russia in the Caspian Sea.
