A total of 458,223 tourists visited Malta in June 2026, representing an increase of 18.5% compared with the 386,776 visitors recorded during the same month last year, according to the National Statistics Office.
Most visitors travelled to Malta for a holiday, while tourists from the United Kingdom, Italy and Poland collectively accounted for 45.6% of total arrivals.
Tourists spent approximately 2.6 million nights in Malta, an increase of 3.9%. However, the average length of stay declined from 6.4 nights in June 2025 to 5.6 nights this year.
Total tourist expenditure increased by 15.2% to €456 million. Average expenditure per night rose to €176.80, although average expenditure per tourist fell slightly from approximately €1,024 to €995.
The latest figures follow strong increases in April and May, when tourist arrivals rose by 16.6% and 22.3% respectively compared with the previous year.
During the first six months of 2026, Malta received more than 2.1 million tourists, an increase of 18.1% over the same period last year. Total expenditure reached almost €1.8 billion, while guest nights increased by 10.1%.
The figures indicate that Malta is heading towards another record year for tourism, although visitor numbers continue to grow faster than average expenditure and length of stay.
