Rhetorically speaking, I find it rather strange that Yorgen Fenech’s defence team and Keith Schembri have gone to such lengths to discuss David Gatt, while omitting the single fact about him that is most relevant to the case. Keith Schembri’s testimony yesterday was amusing, insofar as we are aware that both he and Yorgen Fenech are trying to shift attention away from themselves and onto others. The imaginary image of a penis dangling in an office at Castille is, indeed, rather amusing.
In addition, both of them want to discredit Melvin Theuma.
David Gatt is a previous (alleged) police officer turned professional bank-robber, who was also accused of being involved in the bank heist of HSBC Malta’s business centre in Qormi. He is being brought up often in the case to shift blame of the murder unto Chris Cardona: Chris Cardona and David Gatt are friends.
What is consistently being overlooked is that David Gatt was the lawyer for the Degiorgio brothers until they were arrested for the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, at which point he relinquished his brief. We also know that the Degiorgio brothers’ lawyers were paid by Yorgen Fenech. The Degiorgio brothers also blamed Chris Cardona and David Gatt for Daphne Caruana Galizia’s murder.
What is even more revealing in Keith Schembri’s testimony, apart from the figurative cocks at Castille, is that he was worried he was being recorded by the police—something about which he should have been pressed further, after repeatedly and confidently telling us that he had never done anything wrong.
