Romania detonated two Russian Gerbera-type drones yesterday in its territorial waters after they were found near the Neptun Deep offshore gas project. The drones were drifting afloat and inactive when they were discovered.
The incident follows another over the weekend in Bulgaria, where a Russian drone strayed into Bulgarian airspace. On Saturday, a Russian drone strayed from Romanian airspace and crashed into Bulgarian village of Kardam near the Romanian border.
The incursions of Russian drones into the Romanian border are becoming more frequent with Romania having had to shoot down Russian drones at least four times in total last month. In May, a Russian drone hit an apartment complex in Galati, injuring several people.
