A 27 year old Indian man resident in Paola died on Tuesday after a trailer and his small truck were involved in a collision in Qormi.
The accident happened shortly after noon in ฤฆandaq Road. The Indian was driving a Toyota Toyace truck when he was involved in a collision with a DAF trailer that was being driven by a 39 year old from Tarxien. Emergency services were on site shortly after but unfortunately the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was driving the small truck and became trapped inside the vehicle following the crash. He could not be immediately identified.
Transport Malta urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Duty Magistrate Monica Borg Galea has opened an investigation into the fatal accident. Police investigations are ongoing.
The fatality is the second reported this week, following the death of a diver who was carrying out work off St Paulโs Islands.
