Alex Borg gave a political address today on the party’s channel, NET TV, and for once made a comment about the ongoing rule-of-law crisis as reflected in the ongoing trial of Yorgen Fenech.
The Opposition Leader said that after the trial is over, the Opposition will make sure that anyone who was in power and involved in the murder is brought to justice. He reiterated that he did not want to prejudice the case and that this is why the Opposition has remained silent.
However, he strongly condemned the government over the power-cuts and questioned how the Energy Minister’s announced €140 million expenditure on upgrades is being spent.
He said that the government is not being honest or factual in claiming that the problem is about “low-voltage” issues. He added that Gulf countries experience hotter temperatures than Malta but do not suffer from the same kind of problems because they invest in infrastructure efficiently and meticulously.
He also said that he has asked for a meeting of the MCESD but has not yet received a reply from its chairperson, Marisa Micallef.
