Alkagesta’s biggest client was a major Russian oil buyer: Turkish Russian oil sales allegedly on the decline

Questions still remain, however, as to whether Tüpraş is still purchasing Russian oil, and it has not yet denied that it has fully cut all its Russian oil purchases.

Tüpraş is Turkey’s largest oil-refining and energy company, operating four refineries in İzmit, İzmir, Kırıkkale and Batman with a combined crude-processing capacity of around 30 million tonnes per year. Its operations extend beyond oil refining into electricity generation, fuel distribution, logistics, petroleum trading and new energy technologies.

Alkagesta is Malta’s largest oil bunkerer and has imported Russian oil into Malta as of early this year. Alkagesta’s main clients in the Mediterranean are Tüpraş and Penisula Petrol and it mainly operates from Malta’s Freeport oil-bunkering terminal.
