With Yorgen Fenech walking free in Maltese society, Labour knows that it has violated its Justice Contract with the Maltese. Labour has broken a very informal and unofficial contract with the Maltese people over justice and everyone knows this.
In order to uphold his Devil’s Pact with Joseph Muscat, Prime Minister Robert Abela protected Muscat from investigations and prosecutions. The Attorney-General, who is totally corrupt and is currently being defended by Labour, refused to go through the Vitals Magisterial Inquiry and issued charge sheets without doing any effective work on the investigation, leading to a very weak case that risks collapse.
Prime Minister Robert Abela has been very successful at helping Joseph Muscat and his friends and associates avoid prosecution by dismembering the authorities and creating widespread dysfunction in the.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister kept a semblance of minimum support for justice by guaranteeing the prosecution of Yorgen Fenech for murder. Corruption was fine for Labour and the Prime Minister. Defrauding the state was acceptable, allowing Rosianne Cutajar to re-join the Labour parliamentary group. Murder, on the other hand, crossed the red-line and had to be prosecuted seriously.
But justice over Daphne’s murder has not been delivered and now Labour’s Justice Contract has collapsed. Yorgen Fenech was meant to pay for all the sins of the others, but now that he is free there is no justice at all.
Labour couldn’t uphold and guarantee the basic functions and running of the state’s institutions with regard to Justice.
