According to the latest NSO figures, Malta’s property market kept heating up in August, with both completed sales and promise-of-sale agreements increasing strongly compared with last year.
A total of 1,367 final deeds of sale were registered during August, an increase of 33.8% over August 2025. Their combined value reached €407.3 million, up 29.1% year-on-year. 90.4% of the contracts involved individual buyers.
Promise-of-sale agreements also increased significantly. A total of 1,241 agreements were registered, up 18.3% from last year, while their total value increased by 15.6% to €452.6 million.
The figures mark a strong rebound from July, when the number of final deeds fell by 5.1% and promise-of-sale agreements declined by 6.5%, despite the value of transactions continuing to increase.
The property market had already shown persistent upward pressure earlier this year, with transaction values continuing to increase even during months when fewer properties were being sold.
San Pawl il-Baħar remained Malta’s busiest property market in August, registering 91 final deeds and 110 promise-of-sale agreements. Marsaskala and Birkirkara followed for completed sales.
Apartments continued to dominate transactions, with 534 apartments changing hands during the month, followed by 364 garages.
After the temporary slowdown in transaction volumes during July, the latest figures show Malta’s residential property market accelerating again, with both completed and prospective sales rising sharply.
