EU Chief closes SOTEU speech with call for justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia

A very powerful message for justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia has resounded through Europe today as the EU Commission President closed her State of the Union speech by stating that Europe should ensure that justice for Daphne Caruana Galizia is made.

She said that the subject is close to her heart and that, as today marks the five-year anniversary of the bomb attack that killed Daphne Caruana Galizia, it is disheartening that justice remains lacking.

She added that the Media Freedom Act was inspired by Daphne Caruana Galizia, who devoted her life in search of the truth, and concluded by saying that there should be impunity for Daphne’s murder.

A protest was held for Daphne Caruana Galizia today by Maltese expats in Brussels. A major protest in Valletta is planned today at 7 p.m.
