We are currently at in a very difficult period following the massive SLAPP action imposed on us by online platforms due to the multiple vexatious reports by the Azeri oil company we investigated, Alkagesta.
We have been demonetised by Google, and we have also had our presence on Meta’s platforms subdued and restricted.
Previously, the media outlet did not make a profit, but now the media outlet is making a loss and we are practically working for free.
I can also confirm that we have received absolutely no public funding this year, as we keep getting systematically discriminated against by multiple entities and government officials who are deeply incentivised to do so.
Our larger media counterparts have all received extensive subsidies and adverts from multiple government agencies – we remain completely cut off from any of this form of support.
There are plenty of those who would like to see our work come to an end and we are determined to ensure that their wishes remain unfulfilled.
We will always stand our ground when faced with legal warfare and SLAPP action and we will never yield to such pressures. This archive will remain come what may. However for our work to continue, we need to be funded for our work as we also continue to build the outlet and its infrastructure.
Independent journalism is increasingly highly valuable in our society and our role is ever more important.
We need a very successful funding campaign to go on, and we need to keep this press outlet going.
