Confirmed: one extra vote for Wayne Sammut following Labour Party Executive Committee elections

After further clarifications we have confirmed that Wayne Sammut was elected to the Labour Party’s Executive Committee on Saturday after a recount was made and an extra vote was found for Wayne Sammut.

It is unclear how the vote was missing and then found but a meeting was called before the recount.

A meeting was called again today of the election committee with Labour Party President Alex Sciberras rejecting another recount. Friends of Eman Felice and canvassers of Owen Bonnici are still flustered and feel that Eman Felice was stolen a seat at the Executive Committee by the Prime Minister.

Wayne Sammut was an OPM employee and currently works at the public entity AIMS. He was the President of the Labour Party’s Youths and has politically canvassed for the Prime Minister.

The Labour Party has consistently criticised the Nationalist Party over its financial issues, stating explicitly that since the Nationalist Party can’t get its house in order, it can’t be trusted with the government. If internal party matters are a reflection of how a political party would act in power, this case does not reflect well on Labour, as it shows that Labour is willing to meddle with democratic processes.
