Yemeni forces, backed by Saudi Arabia, are currently codnucting their large-scale campaign to retake territory from the Houthis after the rebel movement made sweeping gains as far as Turbah and took control of the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Yemeni government forces are now claiming to have retaken control of the Strait, including the port city of Mocha. The Houthis, however, have denied these claims and insist that they remain in control.
Meanwhile, a clearer picture has emerged from Taiz. The city has been under siege by Houthi forces, with at least 100,000 people still trapped inside as fighting continues.
Two major battles therefore appear to be unfolding simultaneously. While Yemeni government forces are seeking to retake control of the Bab al-Mandab Strait, Houthi forces are tightening their siege of Taiz. Should the city fall, the Houthis would gain wider access towards Aden.
The footage below shows Yemeni government forces engaged in fighting outside Mocha.
The last footage shows Houthi forces in Mocha declaring that they are still in control of the city.
