Prime Minister Robert Abela gave a subtle confirmation, in his typically indirect manner, that the letter sent to Neville Gafa by the Labour Party’s CEO had in fact been approved by him.
The Prime Minister made sure to be seen with Labour MEP Thomas Bajada earlier today. Bajada has been under fire from Neville Gafa for awarding a communications contract to an individual who had previously worked for Austin Gatt’s ministry. Jesmond Saliba is offering communication services to the MEP with his company CDEIU Ltd.
Note that this is all realpolitik and Labour is not changing fundamentally. Obvious Neville Gafa is a massive liability to Labour since he doesn’t bring it any new voters while he alienates moderate voters with his toxic dribble.
The Prime Minister is steadfastly resisting the implementation of an Anti-Mafia Law along with the implementation of the reforms of the public inquiry into the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia. Nothing is changing fundamentally within Labour. The only major change that Labour is going through is its leadership transition but this is taking place on the basis of continuity.
