The Mafia has a bleeding heart according to Times of Malta

The debate about the budget is becoming so banal and ridiculous that Times of Malta has now successfully projected the Mafia’s bleeding heart for the third-country’s nationals who will be paying for their bus service.

This is like interviewing the Sicilian Mafia on their opinions about Palestinian-Israeli conflict. I’m sure that they are probably pro-Palestine and will condemn Netanyahu.

No one is mentioning that most of these pressures on third-country nationals will be transferred on to their employers who will now be compelled to either lay off workers or else raise salaries.

However, the banality of our press, thanks to the government’s intervention in it, is preventing any serious debate about the risks of Labour’s fiscal policy.

Rosianne Cutajar’s conscience is so conflicted that she’s even considering voting against the budget. Not!

Thing is Mark if the gov wants to curb more TCNs from coming to Malta, all they need to do it’s stop issuing work permits and visas.

Same issue with the eco tax which has increased over 500%. Government is saying he’s increasing it to curb more tourists from coming but all they need to do is stop giving subsidies to low cost airlines. The exponential increase in eco tax contribution will have a significant effect on tourist numbers. I’m saying this as a short let operator myself. EUR80 per head is way too expensive. They could have increased it gradually and tapered it more to make it more sustainable. Again Caruana is saying he wants to curb short let’s…all they need to do it stop issuing short let’s licenses not tax the end product. What sort of reasoning is this?
