Turkish industrial manufacturer GİMAS (also known as Gimas or GiMAS) has officially opened its new production facility in Ħal Far. The plant is the company’s first manufacturing site outside Turkey and is intended to strengthen its presence in the European market.
The project has been supported by Malta Enterprise and other local entities, including through industrial land arrangements at the Ħal Far Industrial Estate. Prime Minister Robert Abela inaugurated the facility on today, describing it as a high-value investment that creates skilled green jobs while placing limited pressure on local infrastructure.
GİMAS specialises in precision components for the energy sector, with a growing focus on renewable-energy products. The Malta plant is dedicated to the manufacture of wind-turbine parts.
The company has stated that locating production inside the EU gives it a larger foothold and allows faster, more efficient supply to European customers.
The parent group already exports to more than 20 countries. Germany is its main European client, accounting for roughly 30% of total exports, and GİMAS maintains an office and warehouse there to serve that market. The new Maltese facility is expected to reinforce this European orientation.
The investment by the company totals approximately €10 million and covers a 10,000 m² site. The plant is planned to employ around 41 highly skilled workers in its first three years, rising to about 60 by the fifth year. It will also house a training academy to develop specialised skills in the sector.
GİMAS Chairman Bekir Girgin has said the company aims to build a future based on industrial excellence, innovation and sustainability, and views Malta as a strategic manufacturing location. Company executives have previously linked the decision to EU investment incentives and a direct invitation from Malta.
