Earlier this week, Sigmund Mifsud was found guilty by the Court of Appeal of obstructing justice. The case revolves around allegations of sexual harassment at the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra when Sigmund Mifsud was its Executive Chairman.
Sigmund Mifsud tried to cover up the abuse by opening an “internal investigation” instead of reporting the allegations to the police. This is the textbook response of the Labour government to each and every one of its scandals in an attempt to avoid serious scrutiny: an “internal investigation”.
While the case was ongoing in court, Sigmund Mifsud embarked on a PR campaign, propped up by Labour Party propagandists, attacking the press for publicising his case. One of the Labour propagandists who facilitated his campaign was Quinton Scerri on the public broadcaster.
Sigmund Mifsud has now been found guilty and jailed. Labour used him as an asset to attack the media and supposedly project its cruelty.
The Court is not available online yet.
