Project Caravan

This is another sad story of how Malta is losing its public spaces to greed and wanton jungle rules. You would expect the government to ban such a practice altogether, but instead, Labour is giving in to the caravan crowd lest it loses a couple of votes.

Malta with just a surface area of 316 square kilometers has more than 400,000 cars on the roads. With public spaces ever diminishing, the government is now licensing the parking of caravans in public areas. Genius.

This is not just about preserving the natural environment, it is also about having the right to enjoy public spaces that are increasingly becoming privatised. Let’s be very clear on this because Labour has a very distorted view of politics and economics. Licensing caravans to take over public spaces is a form of privaitsation of public spaces whereby, people with a caravan have privileged access to a public space at the expense of someone who doesn’t.

Labour is showing a consistent disregard for the living conditions and the environment of the ordinary citizen. Ultimately it is a lack of empathy and awareness, such as when Labour decided to bring restaurant music into the bedrooms of Valletta residents during night hours and asked to be thanked for it. Or by taking over public beaches to give them deckchair operators who are relatives of the Minister of Tourism.

Malta is in a sad state of jungle rules.
