There is a very interesting reason why Robert Abela has taken away Malita Investments from Clyde Caruana’s ministerial portfolio and transferred it to Roderick Galdes after Robert and Clyde came to blows with each other. Meanwhile, let’s take a quick look at Roderick Galdes the Minister for Social Housing,
Roderick was a case officer at the Malta Environment and Planning Authority before becoming a Junior Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries in 2013. Eventually, he was made Parliamentary Secretary (Junior Minister) for Social Housing in 2017. Robert Abela made him full Minister of Social Accommodation in 2020 to thank him for having supported his Party leadership bid.
Apparently, the humble case officer who did not conduct any private practice throughout his political career as minister, has successfully accumulated enough properties to become a millionaire. Roderick Galdes’ property portfolio includes 8 properties, two of which are abroad, one in the UK, and another in Sicily. His recent property acquisition was in Gozo, however, the person mentioned here in this document has no connection with the other Labour Party member Joseph Cordina (Gozo Channel). What is impressive and interesting is that Roderick Galdes accumulated a multi-million Euro property portfolio as Minister without conducting private practice, – so much so that FIAU have concluded a report on Roderick Galdes, and their report was also sent to the police for further investigation.
