After wrecking the economy, Robert Abela’s only solution to a precarious job market, inflation, and soaring rents is to increase government handouts to the poor who basically, compose a third of our population.

It’s incredible how we’ve arrived at this abnormal state of affairs under a Labour government where the economy is so weak, and that despite soaring government expenditure, the government can only alleviate the situation of the poor by giving them handouts.

Talk about Greece 2.0. Things are getting worse really fast.

    I can?t understand how a ?socialist? government gives public land to private developers instead of developing it itself. Malta should follow the example of Vienna, considered as one of the world?s top cities to live in, because of its affordable housing. That is because a century ago the Vienna social democrat government built social housing which architecturally fits in with the city and contains communal gardens , playgrounds libraries etc. not just ghettoes like many other places built.

    Shouldn?t the government be building proper public housing ( taking a leaf from the wonderful housing projects in Vienna: look up the Karl Marx hof project) on public land and offering it to young people? There can be a limit on sale price (as in Co-Op City, New York). Vienna is regularly chosen as one of the world?s best cities to live in because its housing is affordable, unlike London or New YorK
