Some coincidences are a little bit flattering. Among all the magistrates, who would misplace one of the most crucial pieces of evidence involving one of Malta’s most notorious criminals? Of course, it had to be Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech.
Keith Schembri’s phone couldn’t have been lost by the police or the prosecutors if it was found in the Magistrates’ Chamber, because the chamber is actually the magistrate’s responsibility – it’s also self-explanatory because it is called the Magistrates’ Chamber. Furthermore, the file that the magistrate is alluding to wouldn’t have actually been in her chamber, as the file for Zenith Finance’s case had already been transferred to another court. The Magistrate even filed some angry and nonsensical letters to the Minister for Justice about this incident, although it’s hardly the government’s fault, is it?
It’s important to note that Magistrate Donatella Frendo Dimech is also presiding over other important cases including the Progress Press case, the fuel-smugglers’ case, and also presided over a Pilatus Bank case.
