Japan’s public entity within the Ministry of Justice, the Public Security Intelligence Agency of Japan has removed the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) from its list of terrorist organisations. I have confirmed this news today from a Japanese source.
Kurds have an unusual and relatively significant presence in Japan and Japan has often aided in diplomatic efforts between the PKK and the Turkish state. The Warabi area of Tokyo is called “Warabistan” for its presence of Kurds.
