Alfred Żammit defended himself against these allegations saying it was not true that his comments in an FIAU report gave a “clean bill of health” to Pilatus Bank. You can read his testimony to the public inquiry here. Alfred Żammit also stated that the police should have taken action based on the information that the FIAU had provided them.
Nowadays, there are no pretensions by the authorities, namely the Police and the Attorney-General, about not wanting to prosecute Pilatus Bank officials. They have admitted it themselves and are even fighting in court in a civil case opened by NGO Repubblika to avoid taking any action.
