Yesterday night, the PKK launched an attack on a Turkish base in northern Iraq killing 12 Turkish soldiers. Turkey has several illegal bases in northern Iraq that are meant to be used against the Kurds in the region. The Kurds in northern Iraq, actually called Kurdistan, also have a degree of autonomy and their own regional government.
Turkey has responded to the attack by bombing civilian infrastructure in Rojava in Syria, also administered by the Kurds. Despite being a NATO member, Turkey is being allowed to wage an illegal war and occupation in simultaneously two different countries, Syria and Iraq, and in the Kurdish region of Kurdistan.
