A reminder that Bashar al-Assad killed more than 4,000 Palestinians, tortured hundreds and desplaced up to 100,000 more

I’d like to remind my fellow friends and journalists that there are plenty of worthy and good people who can speak about Gaza and Palestine, such as Karl Schembri who actually lived there, or Walid Nabhan an actual Palestinian. For the young journalists covering the Near East, or anything related, for the first time, should be aware that Assadists are not the right people to platform for discussions about Gaza and Palestine. Supporting Assad is not a matter of “political opinion”. Assad butchered hundreds of thousands of his own people, displaced millions, and is a wanted criminal in Europe.

In addition, Assad also killed more than 4,000 Palestinians, killed more than 600 by torture, and displaced up to 100,000 more: most of them descendants of Palestinian refugees who fled to Syria in 1948 during the “Nabka”.

The Syrian flag with the red stripe is used by Assad’s supporters.

The Syrian flag used by the Syrian people opposing Assad has a green stripe and three red stars.

I hope that this clarifies some confusion in the local press.

Two wrongs dont make a right Mark. Netanyahu is as bad if not worse than Assad. A small fascist Zionist state hell bent on displacing a whole population is not something one would want to defend.

    1. Exactly. Europe does not have a clean ledger either…how many countries’ invasions and civilian deaths did they support so far?

It’s a pot calling kettle black.
