Sandra Ramirez, a Colombian national was murdered by her previous partner in Sliema, Malta. Her murder took place in the same town and nearby where Paulina Dembska, another woman victim of femicide, was murdered. Last year, a Turkish woman was killed by a sociopath who drove right through the eatery where she was seated.
Maltese women were already victimised as things were, and now, that Malta is welcoming many foreigners, inevitably, foreign women are also experiencing the reality that being a woman in Malta can be dangerous.
We’re not as bad as places like Egypt of course, but it’s still not an acceptable situation with any and multiple femicides every year.
