Taxman Marvin Gaerty was earmarked to join Yorgen Fenech’s mother company

In September 2019 just months before he was arrested, Yorgen Fenech was assembling a team. He planned to organise his mother company, Tumas Group, and grow its balance sheet to the billion-euro level. He was discussing this prospect with Malta International Airport’s CEO, Alan Borg, to whom he offered the CEO position, and also confided in him that Marvin Gaerty, back then the local taxman, was earmarked to join Tumas Group. Marvin Gaerty was also investigated by the police over separate chats between him and Yorgen Fenech negotiating a tax payment. Marvin Gaerty still has close friends in positions of power at the Inland Revenue Department.
