Newly appointed commander of the UAF says retreat from several areas is necessary to preserve the lives of Ukrainian soldiers

The newly appointed commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi has announced that the UAF will be retreating from certain areas in the frontline to conserve the lives of its soldiers whilst switching from an offensive stance to a defensive strategy. Syrskyi says that in the short term, the aim of the UAF will shift from offensive objectives to inflicting as many casualties as possible on the enemy while adopting a defensive position.

Ukraine’s current losses and retreats come as US Republican Senators blocked military aid to Ukraine in their political squabbling over reforms to reinforce the US border. The bill for aid to Ukraine has just passed along with aid to Israel and Taiwan, but as of now, Republican Senators are still blocking bills and proposals that would see the US reinforce its Southern borders with Mexico.
