European purveyors of peace are Russian assets and Europe has no choice but to re-arm

The current situation in Europe with Russia is as it is, and it can not be changed unilaterally by Europe with good intentions. This is obvious to anyone who understands what’s actually going on with Russia and its efforts to wage a belligerent war to take over Ukraine.

Russia is run as an authoritarian and fascist dictatorship, and is currently in a hybrid war against the West involving politics, trade, energy, economic, and proxy-military activities that are aimed at destabilising the West and making it weaker. The aims of Russia are to expand its borders into Europe, control Western politics via its political proxies, and expand its strength and hegemony as power through force. Basically, Putin is running Russia as a belligerent imperialist power and it is in his interest to do so in order to stay in power.

This should be obvious to anyone who can objectively read the facts and evidence available. This is not rocket science.ย  It should be also obvious that many far-right politicians and political parties are aligning with Russia’s interests in destablising our society for opportunistic political reasons. Some, like Elon Musk, who has recently even sold the Russians his Starlink satellite units for their use in Ukraine, are doing it out of short-sighted economic reasons. Basically, if you hate your current government in the West, you will find in Russia and its propaganda a weapon against your political enemies back home: this is nothing but treason and betrayal.

Russia’s belligerent actions are a serious threat to our democracies, our security, and our way of life. We are currently, watching in real time the consequences of failing to aid our European allies with weapons when they are invaded by Russia. These failures are not derived from the political mechanisms of our states that are still way more efficient than Russia’s, but only because they are being sabotaged by the Republicans in the US and other pro-Russian politicians in Europe who are basically in the pocket of the Kremlin.

So of course, the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola is right to declare that Europe needs a common defense budget. Europe does not need a common defense budget because we desire a war against Russia, it’s because we have to defend our borders against Russian belligerence and imperialism and this is not in our control.

We all want peace and prosperity as opposed to having to save resources to fight a defensive war, but we can not impose peace on Russia by goodwill, and allowing Russia to bully, massacre, and control other Europeans by force would mean that we are giving away our most fundamental democratic principles. We would fundamentally be changing our political principles at the expense of our freedoms to appease a criminal and murderous dictator – this we should not do. Whoever spins and distorts this narrative for opportunistic and political reasons at home is not just being deceiving in a traditional political way, but is also committing a grave and treasonous betrayal to its own people.

Previously, the main obstacle to making politicians understand the importance of a very strong defensive stance aganst Russia was simply to make them overcome their fear of Russia’s threats. It was Europe’s female leaders who stood up to the moment and showed assertiveness and seriousness against Putin, only for Macron and Scholz to follow slightly in this position later. The criminal and corrupt scum within our society will undoubtedly choose to side with Russia for their opportunistic reasons: it is expected of them to behave in this vile and treasonous manner against us. We don’t expect better of them.

In today’s European and American political discourse the etymology of “peace” has developed into a weapon against our fundamental and democratic status quo. Beware those who speak of war in times of peace and those who speak of peace in times of war. Peace is not a permanent absolute state of affairs that one party has unilateral control of. If your partner or friend decides to turn against you in the interest of robbing you, there is probably little you can do other than to defend yourself. Once a burglar is in your home in the middle of the night, you don’t mediate with the intruder for a compromise – you simply shoot at anything that moves. These are very simplistic analogies, but they encapsulate our situation in Europe very well.

Europe needs a united front on these fundamental principles. Those who side with our enemies shouldn’t be seen as anything more or less than traitors of our society because their opportunism and criminal schemes trump the collective and national interests.
