Earlier this week, lawyer Jason Azzopardi, who is representing suspects in the social benefits fraud case, pressed some questions in court to the Director General Grazio Barbara about changes made to the decisions on social benefit applications following recommendations by the Minister’s handler. Mark Calleja (Il-Gulija) is being accused of recommending the applicants to the Social Ministry on behalf of Minister for Social Policy Michael Falzon.
Now, the whistleblower, Roger Agius, a former canvasser and driver to Andy Ellul and Silvio Grixti, is posing the same questions Jason Azzopardi raised with the Director-General, but to the Minister Michael Falzon himself instead. So far, only Silvio Grixti from the Labour Party has been in charged in court, with ministers and OPM officials being allowed to get away with it.
