First they disassociated themselves from the Magistrate; now they betray her

As soon as Magistrate Gabriella Vella submitted her Magisterial Inquiry into the Vitals and the Steward fraudulent public deals Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa and Attorney General Victoria Buttigieg have done their best to dissociate themselves from the Magisterial Inquiry. Angelo Gafa has made it very clear that he wasn’t responsible for the investigations of the Magistrate and the contribution of the police throughout the process only nominal, maybe even less. Now the Police Commissioner and the Attorney-General are even betraying the Magistrate.

In a statement provided to Newsbook, the Police have claimed, that they have not arrested Joseph Muscat and his corrupt associates over his fraudulent Vitals and Steward deals because they and the Attorney-General are following the procedures of the Magistrate. This is an outright lie. Inquiring Magistrates don’t explicitly tell the Police to arrest or not to arrest individuals but they list the laws that have been broken and to what degree so that the Police and the Attorney-General issue their charges accordingly. It is as if Angelo Gafa is so afraid of associating himself with the case that he is begging for the Magistrate to tell him what to do every step of the way. There was never in our history such a public display of cowardice, State betrayal and outright criminal treason by a Police Commissioner in our recent history.

It’s a new low for the Police Commissioner and the Attorney-General to deflect their own responsibility by smearing the judiciary. Their subordinates are surely frustrated about this cowardice because it is up to them: a team of inexperienced and conflicted Labourite prosecutors with a Labourite Police officer, to ask the Court to jail Joseph Muscat and take away his passports from him. This is truly an incredible display of cowardice on Gafa’s and Buttigieg’s part.
