The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, was at the United Nations Security Council yesterday to update the Council on the ICC’s progress in its current investigations on Libya. The Prosecutor stated that investigations will be concluded by 2025 and will be followed by court cases.
The Prosecutor is investigating war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Gaddafi’s forces and rebel forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. Saif al-Gaddafi, Muammar Gaddafi’s son who in 2011 went on TV threatening protesters with “rivers of blood”, is expected to be slapped with an arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court following the conclusion of investigations by 2025.
