China surrounds Taiwan with navy and warplanes in drill called “Joint Sword 24a”

Yesterday, China has surrounded Taiwan with 30 naval ships and 40 warplanes in a drill operation called “Joint Sword 24a”. Taiwan defense forces deployed and made ready anti-ship and anti-air weapons in response, while Taiwanese coast guard confronted the Chinese navy and demanded it to change course.

At the start of the year, in his new year address Xi Jinping said that “Taiwan’s reunification with China was inevitable”. China is also simulating an invasion of Taiwan in its Inner Mongolia region. China claims that the drills serve as a punishment for Taiwan’s separatism. The drills are still ongoing.
