There was no agreement on the nominee for the President of the European Commission during the first meeting of the European Council, but on the second day, the heads of the European Member States seemed to have agreed on nominating Ursula von der Leyen for another term. There is also no objection to Roberta Metsola being nominated again for the Presidency of the European Parliament, and she is set to easily clinch the vote at the European Parliament.
The discussions in Brussels are ongoing.
