Only 6 licensed zoos in Malta so far

The Ministry of Agriculture lists a total of 6 licensed zoos in Malta in its latest published list online (published in 2020). Two of them are composed of wild tigers and big cats, namely the one in Si??iewi by Anton Rea Cutajar, and another one in Ba?rija which once took fire. Note, that the the government gave him a license despite the fact that his zoo literally took fire.

I’m curious to know about what happened of Charles Polidano’s (?aqnu) illegal zoo at his Montekristo Estates.

The Burmarrad private natural reserve is in the list as is the Falconry Centre. Then there is the National Aquarium and the Mediterraneo Marine Park. The Mediterraneo Marine Park has been regularly accused of animal cruelty and activists have called for its closure.
