Bangladeshi SWAT Team filmed shooting protesters

Protests in Bangladesh are continuing despite ongoing violence and repression by the police and the army. A new video has emerged of a Bangladeshi SWAT team shooting at protesters in Shytila. More than 266 people have been killed so far by police and security forces and more than 9000 arrested.

Meanwhile, 22 US Senators and House Members have signed a letter to the US Department of State and State Secretary Anthony Blinken urging him to support the plight for democracy by the Bangladeshi people. The US Senators and House Members cite the problems with the Bangladeshi elections in January which took place under heavy oppression and arrests of political opponents and demonstrators.

The student protests which have started over employment restrictions to the civil service have turned into a widespread call for democracy after the government cracked down on the protests with repression and brute force.
