Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade wins Gold in the floor routine

Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade has clinched her first Gold Medal in the Paris Olympics in the floor routine, with Simone Biles coming second. Previously, Rebeca Andrade came second in the vault routine in which Simone Biles came first. The pair have had a friendly rivalry during these Olympics as they were seen interacting between each other with hand gestures given they don’t understand each other’s language.

Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles who clinched Bronze in the floor routine bowed down to their competitor on the podium. This is the first all Balck podium in gymnastics in the Olympics. This is also Rebeca Andrade’s first Olympic Gold Medal and the second Gold Medal or Brazil in gymnastics with the first one being by Daiane dos Santos on the floor exercise in 2003.

Rebeca Andrade was born in 1999 and is the most decorated Brazilian and Latin American Olympic athlete having won a total of 6 Olympic and 9 world medals.
