US Vice-President and Democrat Presidential nominee Kamala Harris laid out the US foreign policy on Israel and Palestine following a tense meeting with Benjamin Netanyahu.
In a press conference following the meeting, Vice-President Harris underlined the suffering of Gazans and stated that Israel should urgently take on a ceasefire deal with Hamas that is currently on the table to end the war. The ceasefire deal includes the handover of the remaining Israeli hostages and the complete withdrawal of Gaza. She also called for a two-state solution.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attaches fed the press with negative outlooks on the meeting citing Kamala Harris’ pro-Palestinian stance. The White House has also issued a statement with its position.
Benjamin Netanyahu is currently awaiting the result of a pending arrest warrant against him by the International Criminal Court for war crimes in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Hamas has named its military commander Yahwa al-Sinwar as its Chairman and replacement of Ismaeil Haniyeh.
